Growth creates value only when operations can absorb it. Before selecting tools, map where work stops, whose decision it needs, and where information is entered more than once.
Review three flows first
Separate the customer-to-delivery flow, the internal information flow, and the exception decision flow.
- Order to delivery and billing
- Cross-team information handoffs
- Approvals and exceptions
Rank opportunities by value and difficulty
Use frequency, time, error impact, and number of stakeholders to identify a small area that can be validated quickly.
Clarify ownership before adding systems
Automation will still stop if nobody owns the data or exceptions. Define owners, input standards, and review points first.
